 About Us

 

Wallace & Joy are both credentialed ministers with the Assemblies of God and currently serve as Senior Pastors of Carpenter’s Shop Church of Ahoskie, North Carolina.

Wallace currently serves as Eastern Regional Ministry Consultant for ministers in the North Carolina District of The Assemblies of God.    A noted pastor and public speaker, Phillips brings a practical message to his audience. His down to earth style of ministry is enjoyed by all.

He has authored two books - Just Plain Vanilla: A Pastor’s Story and All Dressed Up and No Place to Go: Closed Doors at The Lord’s House.   Wallace writes for varied periodicals and publications and enjoys submitting a monthly blog -- www.wallacephillipsblog.com.

Wallace is a graduate of Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida with a Bachelor’s in Pastoral Ministry. He is currently enrolled in the doctoral program with Omega Seminary in Monroe, Louisiana.

Joy currently serves a Bereavement Coordinator and Chaplain for University Health Systems of Eastern North Carolina. She hosts a monthly support group for those struggling with grief and loss.   Journey’s meets on the first Tuesday of each month at Carpenter’s Shop Church. 

Joy, noted for an ability to listen without judgment, is called upon by many for support in facing life’s challenges. She has conducted special projects for helping children deal with grief and uses a variety of methods to assist in moving people back to wholeness.   Joy is available for personal counsel, small group sessions, or addressing grief and loss in seminar settings.

Wallace and Joy make their home in Edenton, N.C. and  have three children - Joshua, a graduate of Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington .   Joshua currently serves on a ministry staff at Emmanuel Church of Kirkland, Washington and enjoys singing with his group, Josh Phillips & the Young Lions.

Abigail is a graduate of Edgecombe Community College in Radiology and Johnston County Community College in Ultrasonography. She currently serves on staff with Raleigh Radiology and makes her home in Nashville, North Carolina.

Zachary, who lives at home, is a student at John A. Holmes High School in Edenton, North Carolina and operates a lawn care business. 

In All Dressed Up and No Place to Go, Wallace Phillips, pastor and author of the popular book Just Plain Vanilla, addresses many issues that have caused division in the church and provides practical advice to bringing unity to the local church fellowship.

Wallace Phillips is Senior Pastor of Carpenter's Shop Church of Ahoskie, North Carolina. Leading the way in multi-cultural ministry in his region, Wallace models unity in the midst of diversity. He produces the daily radio ministry "Tools of the Trade" and writes a weekly column called "The Carpenter's Tools."
